Today’s Bible Reading:
Genesis 1: 1– 2: 25; Matthew 1: 1– 2: 12; Psalm 1: 1-6; Proverbs 1: 1-6

In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.

And so begins Genesis 1:1. And so begins another year for my goal to read through the Bible in the next 365 days.

This morning as I read these words from Genesis, Ephesians 1:4 has come to mind, even as he chose us in him (Jesus) before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and blameless before him.

Let that sink in for a moment.  God chose you, He knew you before He even spoke the words that brought the worlds into order.  What is going to happen with me today is no surprise to Him, neither is my tomorrow.  He already knows my beginning, my end, and every day in between.  That is a really hard truth to wrap my head around, but what an incredible thought to ponder at the beginning of this New Year.
May grace, peace, and mercy abound,
