Today's Bible Reading: Genesis 4:1-5; 1 Chronicles 1:1-4; Genesis 6
Sin. Such an ugly word. When God spoke the word everything happened just as He said as God created everything in the beginning. Then sin entered in and suddenly God's word was no longer good enough for us. So we have the murder of Abel by the hand of his brother Cain. Before Cain made that awful choice he heard from God,
Why are you so angry?” the LORD asked Cain. “Why do you look so dejected? You will be accepted if you do what is right. But if you refuse to do what is right, then watch out! Sin is crouching at the door, eager to control you. But you must subdue it and be its master.” -Gensis 4: 6-7, NLT
Cain did not listen to God, he refused to head the warning and as a result his life was not at all what it should have been.
And then there was Noah many generations later: So Noah did everything exactly as God had commanded him.-Genesis 6:22, NLT
As I read through the Bible this year I need to decide which one I am going to be like. Sin is crouching at my door-do I take God at His word and do what He says or do I choose a differrent path. One choice leads most assuredly to life...the other to death. You would think the choice would not be difficult.
