Today’s Bible Reading: Genesis 8-11
I love how after all is said and done, Noah offers his worship to God. After being locked away in the ark for months; after 40 days of torrential rains that destroyed all other life on earth; after floating around in a boat without any control over where he was going or what was happening around him; Noah worships God. He does not leave this experience angry at God, nor bitter. He does not go before God to complain, but in awe and reverence he brings an offering to God that God is very pleased with. That to me is simply amazing.
God had provided salvation for Noah and his family from the death that awaited every other person and creature that roamed the earth. Noah’s response to this precious gift from God is exactly what my own should be. Of course God does not desire burnt offerings from me. What is pleasing to Him is a life devoted to walking in His ways. This verse from 1 Samuel 15:22 comes to mind: But Samuel declared: "Does the LORD delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices as much as in obeying the voice of the LORD? Behold, obedience is better than sacrifice, and attentiveness is better than the fat of rams.
