Genesis 13; Matthew 12; Nehemiah 2; Acts 12: Proverbs 12
One of the lines in Proverbs 12 caught my attention as I continue to ask myself this year where my treasure lies. “He who tills his land will have plenty of bread, but he who pursues worthless things lacks sense.” -verse 11, NASB
Well that seems pretty straight forward. The first part of that verse puts me in mind of Jesus being the Bread of Life. “Jesus said to them, ‘I am the bread of life; whoever comes to me shall not hunger, and whoever believes in me shall never thirst.’” -John 6:35
I start my day here In God’s Word, I start my day wanting to learn more of Jesus and take his yoke upon me (see yesterday’s post). This is the land I am tilling, so to speak, in order to have plenty of bread. I come to Jesus the Bread of Life and He gives to me abundantly more than I could ever ask. And then I go about my day and some days I end up pursuing worthless things with my time. It is so easy to do. Today I am praying that God will convict me when I start to go after worthless things.
Grace, peace, and mercy,
Debra
