1 Chron. 1:8-16; Gen 10: 21-20; 1 Chron 1:17-23; Gen. 10:31-32.
I do not have any great, or even small gems to share about today's reading. A couple of things I noted; and I always wonder why these things seem new to me every year:
In Genesis 7:2 God instructs Noah to take seven pairs of animals that have ben approved for eating and sacrifice. Clearly there has been some instruction from God at some point as this is before Moses is given the Law from God with all of the sacrifices and rules about what is clean and what is not. Does it harken back to the days of Adam? Was there instruction before Cain offered his sacrifice that was not pleasing as Abel's was? I do not know...just interesting things to ponder.
In Genesis 9:24-25 Noah pronounces a curse on Ham's son Canaan. As I read through the genealogy later on I made note of the descendents of Canaan. Canaan was the ancestor of the Sidonians, the Hittites, the Jebusites, the Amorites, the Girgashites, the Hivites etc., and their territory eventually even included the towns of Sodom and Gomorrah. All very interesting names in the course of Israel's history and not in a good way. Give me blessings and not curses.
