Today's Reading: Genesis 25: 1-4; 1 Chronicles 1: 32-33;
Gen 5:5-6,12-18; 1 Chron. 1:28-31,34; Gen. 25:19-26; Gen. 25:7-11
Abraham lived for 175 years, and he died at a ripe old age, having lived a long and satisfying life. He breathed his last and joined his ancestors in death. (Genesis 25:7-8, NLT)
And this is why I sometime choose to use the NLT for my daily reading-the same verse in the NASB just does not catch my attention in the same way.
These are all the years of Abraham’s life that he lived, one hundred and seventy-five years .Abraham breathed his last and died in a ripe old age, an old man and satisfied with life; and he was gathered to his people.
(Genesis 25:7-8, NASB)
As I mentioned at the beginning of the year, the NLT is not a translation I use for serious study, but it does often get me to look at things I otherwise walk right on by. This just has me thinking about what it takes for me to have a satsifying life. What does that look like for a child of God? Something to think about today.
