Therefore, since we have a great high priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession. For we do not have a high priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but One who has been tempted in all things as we are, yet without sin. Therefore let us draw near with confidence to the throne of grace, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need. -Hebrews 4:14-16
These verses come on the heels of verses about the result of disobedience. There are some who profit from having the Good News preached to them and others who do not because of their disobedience. Just like the Israelites who wandered in the wilderness. We need to be careful not to follow their example of disobedience. I love this passage for its recognition that I will be tempted to sin-I will be tempted to disobedience. Oh, but we have an advocate in heaven-One who sits at the right hand of God on His throne-Jesus Christ. We can draw near to His throne-His throne of grace, knowing He will hear us, knowing we will receive mercy, knowing He will give us the grace we need to overcome every temptation that is known to man.
What a great encouragement!
Grace, Peace, and Mercy,
