The song of my heart this morning comes from Psalm 86: 11-13:
Teach me Your way, O Lord;
I will walk in Your truth;
Unite my heart to fear Your name.
I will give thanks to You, O Lord my God, with all my heart,
And will glorify Your name forever.
For Your lovingkindness toward me is great,
And You have delivered my soul from the depths of Sheol.
Back in the day, way back in the days of the 1970’s, one of my favorite Christian music artists was Pam Mark Hall. On her album Flying she sang a song titled Teach Me Your Ways. When I read that passage from Psalm 86 that song came right back into my head. She changed up the words a bit. I could only find the tune on YouTube as part of the whole album, but this particular song is at 25:40 if you care to give a listen.
So, teach me Your ways, O Lord, and I will walk in your truth. Unite my heart to praise Your name and increase my faith in Your word-Pam Mark Hall.
As I read David’s words in the Psalm I am wondering what it means to “unite my heart to fear Your Name.” Is it a uniting of my heart with God’s-being of one mind- heart and soul with Him? I am not at all sure. I do know that I will give thanks to God-and do it with all my heart. How blessed am I to be a child of the King!
Grace, Peace, and Mercy,
Debra
