Today’s Bible Reading:
2 Kings 20; Hebrews 2; Hosea 13; Psalm 137-138
It is just one line but packed with meaning; “The LORD will fulfill his purpose for me.” This day and all that it holds is in His hands-a part of His will. The same was true yesterday and will be true again tomorrow. All the moments of my life until now have been God’s perfect will for my life. And it is true for everything yet to come. For His steadfast love endures forever, the words from yesterday, ring in my heart and soul and mind once again this morning as Psalm 138 verse 9 continues; “Your steadfast love, O LORD, endures forever.“
There are times in my life when a word or a phrase comes no matter what I read, no matter where I go-for the past several weeks this has been that phrase-The Lord’s steadfast love endures forever. Steadfast, that word means firmly fixed in place, immovable. That is the way God loves you and me. Sometimes it may feel like life is reeling down a course out of control, but that is not the case. This verse reminds me of that. The events of the past few months are not a symptom of a life of randomness but of God's perfect plan, His purpose for my life and the lives of those whom I love. That is why I can rejoice. That is why I can sing. That is why I can give thanks in all things.
Grace, peace, and mercy,
Debra
